OUGD402 - Time for Planning

In this lecture, I learnt how to plan and organize my life and how useful it can be. There are three reasons why planning is important:

1 - Planning clears the mind for the creative thought process
2 - If you don’t plan you won’t become a functioning professional practice
3 – Without planning you will become stressed and burn out and wont be confident

There are many ways of planning and things you can do to help yourself plan:

1 - Love lists – crossing off lists is beneficial and keeps you focused. With lists you can plan everything from work to spare time.
2 - Get to know yourself – university is the perfect time to get to know yourself, get to know your body clock, what time and where to work, how much to sleep, doing exercise, reading, watching films and many other activities. Get to know your own routine.
3 - Plan ahead – planning head means you can keep on top of work.

THE TIME IS NOW, DON’T MISS OUT

There are many tools you can use to plan your own time. I went on producthunt.com and looked at the ‘manage your time like a pro’ article where it had the top ten apps that are useful for doing this.

The way I plan my time is through Apple’s app Reminders. I have three lists: todays to dos, blog posts and work to do. This is where I plan what studio work I have to do, what blog posts I have to do and the general tasks that I have to complete during the day.

In the first year of college I didn’t plan my time at all I didn’t focus and it made me change my attitude for the second year as I didn’t achieve what I felt was my best results.

As well as discussing planning in the lecture I wrote down ten things that I wanted to do in my life. Its good to write down life ambitions and tick them off otherwise I may never achieve them. They are:

1. Travel the world, mainly Eastern Europe, Southern Europe and America
2. Sky dive
3. Watch every film on my watch list
4. Visit my aunts in Australia and Canada
5. Have my own studio
6. Get back into photography, do some photojournalism
7. Publish my own magazine
8. Create successful pieces of art
9. Screenwriting and write a successful film

10. Open my own restaurant
