To aid the production of OUGD504 Studio Brief 02, Only, a digital interface design studio came to talk in the studio. Only has taken part in a variety of projects which have involved branding and web design. Their visit was incredibly constructive and they answered every question that was asked about web design and how they approach a project.
They laid out the rules that they follow for the production of user face design which is divided into 4 steps; 'research', 'wire framing', 'design' and 'front end'. It was useful to know how a professional approaches a project so that my own practice can be approached professionally. They also recommended software to use when wire framing and designing a functional interface. It is clear that it is important to design the apps function before designing the aesthetics.
Only gave advice to "plan each page, create a journey through a website or application", "design the web page for all sizes", "little details will tie the design together", "only create an app when the function can only be used in an app". There are many parts to their approach that I wouldn't have considered however now I feel that the use of a professional visiting will strengthen my approach to not only this brief, but other briefs in the future.
With notes taken from the professional visit, I can approach my own interface project with a clear strategy for making it a success. This will be the first interface design that I have undertaken and it will benefit me now knowing how to prepare for this kind of project.
