Using the Ikagai concept from the visiting lecture by The Design Kids, the next PPP session was used to channel our ambition. Taking part in the Ikagai diagram, the 'what you love', 'what you're good at', 'what the world needs' and 'what you can be paid for' were filled. For myself, these things are food, cinema, film, design and trainers; design: editorial and identity and screenwriting; positive figures, fun, freedom, comedy and humour; and design and film making, respectively.
These elements merge into one element, Ikagai. It is a combination of vocation, mission, passion and profession. For myself, this can be eliminated down to an occupation in the area of Graphic Design or Film making. It is good to take part in this activity regularly to ensure that you are always achieving what you want in life.
This exercise helped to channel our ambition and figure out what the next step will be after university. It also leads on to the next session, where we will be contacting professionals. Using this diagram, a list of professionals that we personally wanted to contact to grow our network for the future was created. For myself, this included a number of designers as well as film studios: Kissmiklos, Analogo Studio, Savvy Studio, Superfriendz, Dave Sedgwick, Lucasfilm and Pinewood Studios.
In the next session, we would work on the most effective way to get in touch with and grab the attention of these professionals.
