Within a small group I conducted research
on Hey studio.

Hey studio is a Spanish studio based in
Barcelona. Founded in 2007 with the idea of transforming ideas into
communicative graphics. Hey specializes in brand identity and editorial design.
Hey also experiments with illustration and opened its own online store in 2014
to share their illustrative prints. Hey experiments with typography, geometry
and bold colours. Hey encourages one-to-one relationships with their clients
taking care of every step of the design process.
As well as my group there were other small
groups that researched other design studios. When we had all researched we
presented our research in small presentations. This is what I learnt about the
different studios we had to research:
AHxHA Studio
Established in 2011 by Carolina Cantante
and Catrina Carreiras, AHxHA is a Portuguese design studio that works
worldwide. AHxHA ensures that it has a close relationship with its clients and
focuses on naming and identity work, as well as advertising, new media, retail
and product design.
Sagmeister & Walsh

Sagmeister & Walsh is a New York design
studio founded by Stefan Sagmeister who was shortly joined by Jessica Walsh.
They focus on brand identities, web design and app design. Sagmeister &
Walsh consists of just four designers, which allows them to have a close
relationship with their clients.
Heydays Studio

Heydays studio is a Norwegian design studio
that focuses on brand identity. Their style follows the format of clean
Scandinavian design. Each of Heydays designers works directly with their
clients to ensure easy and tight communication throughout each project.
Lust
Established in 1996, Lust consists of 16
designers. Based in the Netherlands, Lust focuses on print work and book design
as well as architectural graphics. Lust has studios in two locations with
design teams of 8. Lust tries to push the boundaries of design.
Studio Dumbar

Studio Dumbar was founded by Gert Dumbar
back in 1977. Studio Dumbar was the first Dutch studio to go international. It
focuses on branding and producing work for passion not profit. They produce
work for non-profitable organisations. Their work is abstract in design and
ahead of their time. The work originally produced at the start of the studio’s
life still looks modern and current.
Build

Build is a four-man studio founded by
married couple Michael and Nicky Place. Build focuses on brand identity and art
direction. Their clients are typically design-led allowing the studio to
produce work they are justifiably proud of.
Elmwood Studios
Elmwood studios are Leeds based and
established in 1997. Elmwood studies on branding and identity. The studio also
has its own brand of tea. Elmwood is proud to be the world’s most effective
brand design consultancy having won the International Design Effectiveness
Awards more times than any other business.
Face
Face is a Mexican studio founded by Rik
Bracho and Ricardo Tejada in 2006. Their work is supermodernist and they focus
on developing honest branding. Face works across the world and is always
committed to producing quality work.
Dessein

Dessein has been operating since 1987 when
Geoff Bickford and Tracy Kenworthy, now directors of the studio, founded it.
The two founded the studio immediately after graduating from college. Their
work is simplistic and eligible. Based in Australia, Dessein brings its clients
produce that has been especially developed for the client’s values and what
they represent.
Wolff Olins

Michael Wolff and Wally Olins founded Wolff
Olins in 1965. Wolff Olins partner long-term and work at pace to ensure that
they create better brands and better businesses. Wolff Olins is located in four
major cities; London, Dubai, New York and San Francisco. Wolff Olins work is
abstract and bold and has designed work for major brands such as the mobile
network EE and The National Lottery as well as designing the 2012 Olympic logo.
Bleed
Bleed is a design consultancy based in Oslo
and Vienna that focuses on creating identity through art direction and graphic
design. Bleed tries to challenge today’s conventions of art and visual language
by representing a mix of cultures and disciplines. Bleed follows a unique
manifesto; be different, take chances, share ideas, have fun, believe the hype,
move in directions, be nice, keep learning, collaborate and bleed for the
revolution.
