I wanted to continue the traditional style of design to demonstrate my approach to design using traditional methods. Using inspiration from Counter-Print's crest and shields book, a variety of initial designs were sketched.
From these designs, they were developed further into digital concepts. The typefaces from my original identity did not feel professional and it would be more appropriate to use standardised type that would be taken more seriously. For this I chose my favourite typefaces; Din and Univers.
After initial development feedback helped to deduce the most successful designs from the developments. The information was also laid out in a manor that could be easily read and understood. It was important to include the information that would be necessary. A variety of ideas were developed before they were critiqued and a feedback group helped to choose one that was most legible.
The most succesful designs were developed into a variety of separate designs before being critiqued again, before the final design was developed and printed. The screen printing technique was chosen as it connects to my traditional approach to design and it was printed onto repurposed greyboard to suit my sustainable approach to design.
The final design was successful in printing. However after reviewing this final design, much of the detailing was hard to print as it was so fine, and some of the type required to be printed at a larger point size. As well, the 'est 1997' was removed as it didn't seem to have a purpose. The final result was successful and communicated the identity that I originally established in first year.
