I recently went to an issue launch of Shy Bairns, a magazine that my peer, Erin is involved with. It is a platform for northern creatives to get their work publicised in a publication that is sold and bought. This is the second issue of the magazine and involved a small exhibition that was held in Manchester. It was good to see what is happening in Manchester, a similarly creative city to Leeds, and good to experience another city.
This launch demonstrated how successful a project can be that is started from scratch as the Shy Bairns team started the project only with the funding they received from pre orders of the first issue. It has proved to me the possibilities of initiating a project like this and how successful it can be and provide opportunities to students and young creatives. This strategy for initiating such a project could be just as successful with the collective project that I was involved with, The Pub Collective.
