To create a creative report to demonstrate my involvement with the creative industry, professionals must be contacted. There are numerous ways to do this including phone, email, LinkedIn and even Instagram. I am keen to contact the creatives who influence me the most and decided that the best way to contact them, as they are international and it could prove to be quite pricey to contact them in other ways, is to email with them and attempt to connect with them using LinkedIn and Instagram.
A series of questions have been formulated that will inform my knowledge on their path into graphic design, their own practice and what their experience is like working their country:
How did you get into graphic design?
Did you study an art subject at school?
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Is there a different career path that you considered taking in the past?Do you use a specific type foundry or typeface supplier? Who?
Who is your favourite stock supplier?
They will also be asked what their favourite colour and favourite typeface is, which will be used to inform the design choices of the creative report. They will also be asked a couple more questions which will be catered for each specific person.
I already follow these creatives on Instagram and theres no reason why a message on this platform will not be successful way of communication. Keeping up to date with these professionals has ensured research has taken place before any interviews and ensures knowledge of their activity in the industry.
As well as this, I have reached out and been successful in connecting with a few of these professionals using LinkedIn as a platform of communication. I have been in touch with them but have not heard back as of yet.
I have also sent emails to professionals who I think will have a positive influence to my creative strategy. As I have recently been interested in work from Mexico, I spoke to Josiah Craven, an illumni, to ask if I could ask him a few questions about his experience there. He was happy to get involved so I sent him some questions over email, as he is quite busy and couldn't fit a one to one interview into his schedule.
