The first point to write about is what the idea is, simply and shortly describing it.
The point that follows is how this idea works and what it does.
The last point to discuss is why it works, explaining why the idea is successful.
These are the only three points that need to be covered in a pitch and is a useful strategy when it comes to descriptive writing, a skill that will be needed when pitching future ideas and concepts. Ensuring a pitch is short, punchy and to the point is more effective than rambling about a product. A description that does this and isn't written well can be unprofessional. This particular task helped myself as I do often find that when writing I can ramble and it is an area of work where I struggle.
From this exercise we were given the option to use this technique to write about our own work and submit them to online blogs and review sites that feature designers work. I personally follow a few of these sites already, so sent work to Creative Review, Visuelle, Design Blog and Design Everywhere.
Of the people who I sent work to, only Patrick from Creative Review has got back to me, so I will ensure I will think carefully about how I contact people more in the future and give consideration to gaining attention as much as the work I wish to share.
