Because I really like this idea, I have decided to keep it, but instead use the products to create a short promotional video. Many studios use video to promote themselves as it is cheaper and more effect in this digital age. It sometimes works better than a business card.
I have looked into different styles of video promotion and I particularly like stop motion animations that are backed by upbeat music. I would like to design the package as my own line of products and use it as self branding and animate the products dancing to some upbeat jazz music. This will clearly show the style of my design and demonstrate an example of my own work. A client could then apply for a package to be sent to them so they can see it physically, if they'd like, which would save me money.
Looking into different animations I have determined the style of animation I would want to achieve. I want it to not be too smooth so that it feels real but quite an un-smooth animation which would give it an engaging effect. I have found many examples of the style of video I want to produce.
The first is a video created in the 1960's. In this video pieces of paper dance to a piece of music performed by drums.
This is more like the animation I wish to produce as I will be using objects as well.
This video demonstrates how short the animation can be and how a jittery animation can crete a good effect.
I will look into more animations and more promotional videos created by design studios to get an idea of what the best content would be, and start brainstorming ideas of what I want to happen in my video. I will also look more into the design of hair products as inspiration for my own design.
