OUGD602 - Experience with Union Freshers Identity

Working for the Union's Freshers Identity was my first ever large scale client work and a new experience for me, one that can be learned from for future projects at this scale and for clients. The project involved a lot of budget restraints and client specifications which restricted much freedom for experimentation and potential which was a challenge. However I found that working to such tight restraints made the project more manageable. Many of the design decisions that could have taken time to decide on were made easy, with often only one option to solve a problem. Although it was a challenge not having full freedom, I still found the process rewarding achieving the most out of tight rules.

One of the biggest lessons learnt from this process was the disadvantage of not communicating directly with printers myself. All design work went through the Union before being sent to print and caused communication issues and last minute adjustments. This meant in some cases, the desired finish wasn't achieved. I will know now to ensure full communication with printers is made to ensure the required finish is achieved.
