Hammer-Spaces was a small exhibition in Village in Thornton's Arcade. The exhibition displayed work by artist SJ Hockett who produced prints using a Riso Printer. As a creative, I am skeptical about riso printing because of its unique finish of print, however I was impressed with the work on display.
As Communications Officer for the Union, the main role this year will be to produce a newsletter each month. I am keen to produce a printed format that students will be keen to collect. In terms of budget it will be most likely that the print technique used will be riso printing as it is affordable for the Union. To see the results that SJ Hockett was achieving using this printing process has improved my confidence with this printing technique and opened up more opportunities that can be achieved.
To create these prints, Hockett had folded A2 paper into A4 size and put it through the printer four times which has created a unique staggering effect. Seeing this space has improved my confidence on the prospects of achieving a variety of results when creating the newsletter.
